MAKING PEACE WITH THE PLATE

A few weeks ago, I read a book called Intuitive Eating that offered me real hope in my continuing struggle with compulsive overeating. God provided this resource at the perfect time – as He always does. But first, let me back up a bit.

For the past several months, I’ve been feeling the nudge to pursue a new career path. This was very unexpected. I thought I would be “just” a homeschooling mom for the next 10 years and be very content. But there has been a growing desire in me to become a professional life coach. In case you’re not familiar with this, allow me to explain. Life coaches provide the support, encouragement, and accountability their clients need to move from where they are in any area of their life, to where they want to be, or for the Christian, where God is calling them to be.

I have experienced various forms of coaching over the past couple of years and have found it to be extremely beneficial in my own personal growth. Slowly, I began to shift from “This is awesome!” to “I could do this” to “I want to do this” to “I am really doing this!” I am currently taking my first 2 courses at Professional Christian Coaching Institute and loving it!

So, the next question that came up was, “What will be my niche?” “What group of people is God calling me to serve?” Enter Intuitive Eating. Turns out, the authors of the book, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, have their own certification course for becoming an Intuitive Eating Coach. Found my niche!

When I worked with a music management company about 10 years ago, they took me through the process of discovering my core spiritual issue with the goal of building a music ministry on the foundation of God’s power made perfect in my deepest weakness. Now, here I am 10 years later, and God is doing the same thing. Compulsive eating is one of my deepest weaknesses. A lifelong battle. And God is calling me to minister from the places that He has met me in the struggle. I can say with deep gratitude that . . .

I have feasted on the Bread of Life.
I have been refreshed by pure Living Water.
I have tasted and I have seen that the Lord IS GOOD.
I have delighted in the Lord as I would delight in the richest meal.

How? By leaning in, by trusting, by spending time, by sharing my heart, by asking for help, by being honest and transparent, by confessing my mistakes, by being curious, by letting go, by being quiet and still, by listening. I claim the free gift of God’s grace everyday and I am learning to live more and more in the immediacy of His loving presence. Now God is moving me to serve from this place of divine abundance. I don’t have all the answers, but I do have THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE.

Over the next several months, I will be receiving my core training, launching my practice, and creating an online coaching community. There is a lot to do! But God has given me a clear vision and has provided all the resources I need. I am looking forward to sharing the next phase of the journey with you!
