THRIVE

First of all, I have been eating more raw/vegan meals. (FOODMATTERS.TV) That’s right, lots of raw fruits and veggies, greens, nuts, seeds and sprouts with very little animal products. It’s amazing how many delicious, satisfying raw recipes are out there! Compulsive eating has been a life-long struggle for me and has resulted in food addictions, excess weight, and low energy. By radically reducing sugar and cooked/processed foods, I am looking forward to increasing my physical energy and overall health. Believe it or not, the transition has been rather enjoyable!

Second, I have begun the process of cleansing/detoxing my body using DrNatura’s products. (DrNatura.com) These natural supplements are designed to help the body release accumulated toxins and to clean out the entire digestive tract. So far so good. (if you know what I mean)

I have also been experimenting with a tool that may help to “reprogram” deep-rooted patterns of negative thinking. Meridian tapping is a simple self-administered technique that combines Chinese acupressure with modern psychology to create an “energy intervention.” (TheTappingSolution.com) The first step is to become aware of destructive, distressing thoughts, then consciously choose to redirect that energy and invest it in an idea that is more constructive and affirming. This is done while lightly tapping on specific acupressure points on the head, face and upper body. Sound strange? Well, the jury is still out on this one, but I’ll keep you posted.

All of these efforts support my most immediate goal, which is to discontinue taking anti-depressant medication over the next several weeks – under my doctor’s supervision, of course. I am so grateful that God guided me to medication eighteen months ago. It has brought major relief to my symptoms of depression. But now is the time for HEALING. Now I am constructing a NEW foundation of health and God is leading me away from the meds. I’m moving forward fully aware of the potentials for withdrawal and relapse, but I believe that this is an essential step on my path to wholeness.

All of this probably seems like a lot of work, right? Well, relearning how to think like a healthy person does take some effort – at first. But it will be totally worth it when all of the habits that I’m practicing now eventually become automatic and effortless! Then I will have abundant energy to invest in the passions that God planted in my heart – without all the negative blockages. In the meantime, every day in every way I will choose to THRIVE!
